A woman survived a bear mauling by hiking back to her car and driving 4 miles for help, even though her face was partially ripped off and an eyeball was hanging out of its socket.


“CALIENTE, Calif. (KABC) — Allena Hansen, 56, was severely mauled by a bear last month while walking her dogs in Kern County.

Swollen and scarred but not defeated, Allena Hansen, a petite 100-pound 56-year-old mother, lives to tell an unbelievable story. Ten days ago she came face to face with a 150-pound black bear. Before she knew it, he had pounced.”
